Our Story

How it all began

2020

Wally and I met for the first time in September via Bumble, then again via Tinder. The important lesson learned here: Jayne has RBF. Thank god Wally gave me another shot. I purchased my most expensive and precious thing ever, Maxwell. He is a goober, but most importantly, he was the judge that Wally bribed into acceptance. Those two became my pride and joy, always prepared to make me laugh or show me what it means to be grateful.

Introduction to friends and family. Fun Fact: Wally introduced me to his family and friends before I was his girlfriend. After I visited Connecticut, post-surgery, I was his girlfriend…But he had my heart months before that. We took classes together, studied together and worked all summer in Connecticut. It was a year of learning one another and letting our instant bond flourish.

This year was about maturing. We gave up partying and started focusing on our grades. Wally started to grow his professional portfolio and began working on his private life too. It was a big emotional growth year that pushed us to discover our dreams. Wally started working on his youtube channel, making shortfilms, and creating professional contacts. I started my path in history and stopped fighting what had been calling to me. Neither of us could have done it without the other pouring confidence and love into each other. We learned partnership is about standing beside one another, and we used examples we saw in our friends and family to fuel that image.

Apartment, graduation, traveling, NONSTOP. We traveled to Ireland, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. We also went to San Francisco and got to see our family expand even more! We even moved to Belfast for my MA program (until Wally was deported). It was a fun and whirlwind year with lots of writing for me and tons of support from Wally. Wally proposed in July and really displayed all he loves about me in the most gentle and tender way. It was beautiful and perfect. This year was about tasting our dreams and getting to see how much the world held for us.

Obviously, Wally and I were apart for a bit, but we had been fortunate to be together for so long that we tried to make the most of the physical distance. I had lots of visitors and solo traveled, all with Wally supporting me from 5 hours behind. I learned so much about being grateful for the support I have and though it was hard, we had tons of people in our corner pitching in the entire time. Thank you all for being such proactive and kind family/friends.

This was a rebuilding year. Wally and I each had our own struggles and mutual ones to go through. Neither of us were moving forward on our dreams, but we knew that if we relied on one another and set our minds to it, we could handle anything. We got our apartment, got jobs, applied to programs and pushed ourselves hard. We even added a goofy roommate to the mix. We ended the year with a clear vision of where we were going and a drive to make the next the best.

Still going on! We will add where we can, but right now we are just planning a fun wedding where we let everyone into the love we share. I cannot put into words how much I love Wally, nor can I begin to give thanks for every person that made this possible. I can say that I look forward to seeing everyone on the dance floor, ready to break it down to some of our favorite music in our favorite place with our favorite people. Get ready and pack warm!
